The Goethe-Institut Washington is looking for a Program and Campaign Coordinator starting August 15, 2025, for the production of the one-year campaign “Unter Freunden/Among Friends”.
Employment scope: 100% position = 40 hours per week
Start date: August 15, 2025
Application deadline: July 4, 2025
This is a fixed-term position until July 31, 2026
Responsibilities:
* Supporting the Director of Cultural Programming and the Director of Information Services in the realisation of distinctive program strands within the above campaign: tour formats, network meetings, grant management and others
* Contacting and negotiating with partners of the Goethe-Institut in the fields of culture and education in the US
* Organization of events in coordination with the supervisors
* Preparing texts for the public, editing, entering into the Goethe-Institut's content management system
* Support in the organization of travel and bookings
* Administrative tasks, finance management, and budget planning in coordination with the supervisors
* Occasional other tasks as advised by the supervisors
Requirements:
* University degree – for example, in the humanities or cultural management
* Great interest in and good knowledge of art, culture, and society in the US and abroad
* Strong organizational skills and event management experience
* Willingness to work on evenings and weekends
* Willingness to travel on official business
* Knowledge of both spoken and written German and English
* Capability to work in a team

* The Goethe-Institut offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance and short-term disability insurance (for employees working at least 30 hours per week). After 6 months of employment, all employees are eligible to contribute to a 401(K) plan with p to a 4.5% employer match.
For this position, the Goethe Institut offers a hybrid work model allowing remote work for up to two days per week, pending supervisor approval. However, qualified applications from outside of Washington, DC requiring fully remote work may also be considered.
