This is a temporary position until the end of 2025, ideally full-time (40 hours/week) but part-time (at least 20 hours/week) may be possible. This is a hybrid position with some work from home possible.
As the German national agency for international cooperation in higher education, DAAD serves to promote international academic relations especially through funding the exchange of students and faculty between Germany and other countries. Supporting over 55,000 individuals a year with competitive grants, DAAD is the largest such organization in the world.
Responsibilities:
* Independent research of topics relevant to higher education policy in the US, Canada and Germany
* Close monitoring of news and reports from the fields of higher education and science
* Independent preparation of texts in German and English
* Consultation with students, scholarship holders and university staff
* Ongoing communication and coordination with New York-based colleagues and DAAD headquarters in Germany
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
* Fluency in German and English, native German speaker preferred
* In-depth knowledge of science and research landscape in the US and Germany
* Very good writing skills, experience with independent research, text production and social media
* Journalistic experience a plus
* Excellent organization skills with great attention to detail
* Work permit for the United States (the DAAD cannot sponsor a visa)
Salary: $8,612/month if full time
